Exploration of the natural world is a crucial part of child development. Clover is an interactive toy to present found objects while practicing describing the world around us.







Clover speculates on how future technolgy can accompany and enhance play, learning, and discovery of the Earth.

The world changes without us noticing


The sun has a different trajectory everyday and leaves slowly change color. We miss a lot of these gradual transitions. How can I encourage people to spend more time outside and observing these changes?





Inspiration

The collection and display of trinkets, observerable ways to quantify changes, interesting processes or materials. 



Process


A low tech beginning.
Windows are our contact point for the outdoors while we’re inside. This is an aproximate time telling device used to accompany routines. Sunlight shines through the arranged shapes and highlights certain areas. With changing seasons these spots of projection will change. 


A high tech continuation. 
What do we bring out into the world with us? What could be unobtrusive and easily carried around and used to record out experiences?

I liked the idea of having an object/recorder to be brought around and used to describe objects in real time, in their environment. At home the recorder is docked and used to prompt a display for pocket treasures found while exploring
